1BR was at one point the most watched film on Netflix North America! This was great for me to hear because I know just how much sweat and tears went into making this film from everyone involved. David Bolen shoots with a very contrasty shooting LUT that mimics a Kodak stock and so a lot of the work was smoothing things out. SPOLER ALERT: There’s a room that a lot of the film takes place in that needed to be white, antiseptic and that was a huge challenge because some of it was shot on a pickup stage and some on location. The further it gets along in the film the sicklier and green it gets. I love that, being able to make a “color map.” What a great project.
